Sahyog Club at SelaQui: Empowering Young Minds Through Outreach

With schools nationwide embracing community outreach initiatives to engage students, SelaQui International School is no exception. The notion behind organizing such events is to instill a strong sense of empathy and compassion among students and motivate them towards making a valuable contribution to society at large. Such small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in someone else’s life for the better and contribute to their development as responsible citizens in the future.

Engaging with academic institutions to empower children with a new and innovative way of thinking through engaging and interactive skill-building activities is a way forward to nurturing bright young minds. With this thought, the Sahyog Club at SelaQui International School on the 26th of July 2025, embarked on a heartfelt mission to empower and educate young minds through a well-structured community outreach program held at two government schools in Dehradun. This initiative was carefully designed to address the distinct needs of children of different age groups, creating a meaningful impact that resonated throughout the community.
At the Government Primary School, the club’s enthusiastic members captivated young students through interactive games and storytelling sessions. The purpose of these activities was to enhance essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. The children’s passionate participation created a lively and joyful atmosphere, as they eagerly engaged with the content. By making learning fun and accessible, the sessions sparked curiosity and encouraged collaboration among the young learners.
Meanwhile, at the Government Secondary School, a focused hygiene and self-care workshop was conducted to equip adolescents with critical knowledge and practical skills. The session, led with energy and empathy, incorporated hands-on demonstrations alongside engrossing group discussions. Among the topics that were covered were proper handwashing techniques, personal grooming, and general self-care, all of which are vital components of maintaining health and well-being. This practical approach empowered students to adopt habits that will serve them well in all aspects of healthy living.

The day culminated in vibrant dance performances by the secondary school students, adding a celebratory note to the occasion. These performances not only displayed the students’ creativity and exuberance but also symbolized the strong sense of community that was further fostered by the outreach program.
Overall, the Sahyog Club’s outreach efforts were a resounding success. The dual focus on education and empowerment ensured that students of varying ages received tailored support to grow and thrive. By nurturing skills, health awareness, and community spirit, the initiative has paved the way for sustained learning and connection between our school and theirs. Such dedicated efforts exemplify the power of teamwork and compassion in driving positive social change.
The Next Plan of Action
Looking ahead, we are also preparing to conduct a financial literacy workshop for our security, groundskeeping, and housekeeping staff. This initiative will provide them with practical knowledge about personal budgeting, savings, digital banking, and available schemes, empowering every member of our school community with essential life skills.
